Knowledge I.T Sponsor Newcastle United Foundation
Knowledge I.T is pleased to announce the continuation of its support of the Newcastle United Foundation Learning Centre.
The Washington based company is a leading provider of information, communications & technology (ICT) solutions for business and has a long-standing association with Newcastle United.
The Learning Centre, which is based at St. James’ Park, is the venue for all the Foundation’s ‘United in Education’ workshops which local schools in the region can sign up to.
Targeting Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils, the programme uses the football club to bring learning to life by helping students develop their literacy and numeracy skills.
Other workshops include Magpie Market, where students work in groups to form a business then create and sell a new range of football shirts. Really Retail, is a project to design a prototype product for the Official Newcastle United Store and Perfect Player, examining the skills needed for different types of employment.
Not only will Knowledge I.T be offering on-going free support to the Centre, but this year, have also included the telecommunications systems and high-speed Internet connections to the facility.
Sarah Medcalf, Fundraising Manager said: “We are very grateful to Knowledge I.T for continuing to support the Newcastle United Foundation by providing valuable IT services for the coming year.”
“Last season, with their help, over 2500 children and young people benefited from using computer systems in our Learning Centre that were kept fully operational. This has allowed us to inspire children throughout the North East to learn and reach their potential.”
George Sanger, Managing Director of Knowledge I.T said: “Last season, The Newcastle United Foundation helped over 38,000 local people and has made a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and families in our region. The Foundation does a fantastic job of combining sport with education to promote learning and healthy lifestyles and we are delighted to be able to continue our support for this great initiative”.
The Learning Centre accommodates up to 40 students. The workshops, which all run for two hours, include a stadium tour and are delivered by experienced Newcastle United Foundation staff.
