Teesside and North Yorkshire fundraising ?drive? raises thousands

Car dealerships across Teesside and North Yorkshire have raised thousands pounds for a charity that helps children and young people in the region.

Staff and customers at Simon Bailes Peugeot dealerships in Northallerton, Guisborough and Stockton-on-Tees raised over £3000 for Children in Need.

Peugeot was an official partner for the charity for 2012 and Simon Bailes Peugeot dealerships raised money with collection boxes, selling official merchandise and by running a fun competition to win an iPad2.

Customers made donations to Children in Need and could guess the number of balloons that had been put in a 208. The lucky winner was Karen Johnson from Darlington who entered the competition whilst visiting the Northallerton dealership.

Peugeot has worked with Children in Need over the last few years, providing transport for various events but this year opted to be an official partner to take on a bigger role.

Simon Bailes said: “We were really proud to work alongside Children in Need and I am delighted that we’ve managed to raise £3000. Our customers have been a massive support and really got involved with our fundraising. Being able to help local communities and charities plays and an important role in our set of values and this has proved a great opportunity to raise much-needed money.”

Winner of the competition, Karen Johnson, added: “It’s great to see a local business and its staff so involved in a fundraising efforts. As a regular customer at Simon Bailes Peugeot, I always try to support their efforts and this time I’m a winner which is a bit of a surprise!”
