Cambridgeshire firm makes bioresearch acquisition

A Cambridgeshire-based laboratory services firm has acquired a top bioanalytical sciences business from Quotient Bioresearch.

LGC, who announced the deal on Wednesday, works in genomics, forensics, health sciences, science and technologies, as well as laboratory standards.

The transaction will enable the buying firm to grow its operations in health services, and expand its products and services to the pharmaceutical sector.

Quotient and LGC will work alongside each other under the terms of the deal, and clients of both firms will be able to take advantage of their combined capacity.

Clinical trials, metabolism and radiolabelling are just some of the services in early development which will be available from the two companies, who will operate under the “Quotient” name for the immediate future.

This agreement follows a transaction two years ago between the two companies, which saw LGC buy Quotient’s HFL Sport Science business, also based in Fordham, Cambridgeshire.
