SES secures multi - million pound contracts
Shepherd Engineering Services (SES), one of the UK’s leading infrastructure and building services companies, has recently announced it has secured some £15million worth of new work in the North West.
On the first of two contracts, SES has been appointed to provide a range of M&E services on the 268,000 sq ft Grade A office development at One St Peter’s Square in Central Manchester. SES will work closely with principal contractor Carillion Construction on the landmark building, which forms part of ambitious plans to transform the city’s business district.
The project is being delivered for Argent in partnership with the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund, which will see SES draw upon its ability to prefabricate building services modules off site. This will also contribute to the client’s environmental agenda as it is anticipated that 80 percent of the project services will be manufactured in this way.
The second contract will see SES working on a £25million scheme, which is being part- funded by the European Regional Development Fund monies, to convert the former Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester, into a hi-tech 100,000 sq ft biomedical centre of excellence, situated at the heart of Europe’s largest clinical and academic campus.
SES will work closely with principal contractor Lend Lease, providing full M&E services which comprises the refurbishment of a Grade II Listed building and a new build five storey element - both of which will be linked by an enclosed pedestrian thoroughfare.
Speaking about these latest contract wins regional director for the North West, Rob Doherty said:
“SES has established an enviable reputation for its ability in assisting clients to deliver challenging projects of this type through innovation. For example, in the case of the biomedical centre we will be tasked with installing services suitable for wet laboratories and clinical functions through to media rooms, offices and catering facilities. I am confident that we will achieve this by using our integrated 3D design capability and prefabrication approach, manufacturing much of the service modules off-site at our PRISM facility.”
SES will commence work on both projects this coming spring.
