Production volumes disappointed in the penultimate month of last year, with a 2.4% drop year-on-year according to figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS).
Although there was a slight 0.3% rise in production between October and November 2012, the figures were still a blow in comparison with the same period in 2011.

The private sector, which accounts over a fifth of construction work, was the biggest contributor the this slump with a 16.2% decline in work.
