Rockliffe Hall proves it?s top with travellers

Rockliffe Hall has been singled out as one of the best hotels in the UK- beating the likes of The Dorchester in London and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons- while its spa has been named as one of the best in the world, adding to its impressive list of accolades.

The 5* spa has been named ninth in the world and second in the UK in an online poll conducted by one of the world’s biggest travel websites.

The ‘World’s Greatest Hotel Spas’ were voted for by travellers contributing to the review website, TripAdvisor, and in the UK Rockliffe Hall’s spa was second only to the Corinthia Hotel’s spa in London

The top ten featured big names such as the Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados and the Shangri-La in Vancouver, Canada.

Travellers praised Rockliffe Hall for its luxurious surroundings, for being ‘5* all round,’ and for being a ‘top draw luxurious hotel’.

Rockliffe Hall’s spa’s variety of treatments and facilities were also highlighted with guests especially impressed with the range of thermal suites such as the caldarium and tepidarium, Roman and heat saunas as well as the steam rooms, hydropool and ice fountains.

In addition, Rockliffe Hall has been named as one of the top 25 most luxurious hotels in the UK by TripAdvisor beating off competition from big names such as Hotel du Vin, Gleneagles and The Dorchester.

MD of Rockliffe Hall, Nick Holmes, said: “Every year more and more hotels open or update their offering making the marketplace ever more competitive. We’re very proud that people are talking about us enough to help us become highly-rated amongst travellers around the world- and this is now happening on a consistent basis. After all, we’re a relatively small hotel, not part of a large chain and we’ve only been around three years so this is a great achievement. What’s more, it helps put the North East on the tourist map- a very important part of our region’s development.”

Spa director at Rockliffe Hall, Liz Holmes, said: “It’s always very encouraging when the people that really matter- the guests- tell you that they like what you offer. Being listed in the top ten of the World’s Greatest Hotel Spas is such great news for the resort as we continue to grow. All our team works hard to provide that coveted ‘wow-factor’ and when we get an accolade such as this- and some really good traveller reviews- it helps us to understand what we’re doing well and how we can become even better.”

Rockliffe Hall’s 50,000 square feet spa offers a range of specialist treatments by world-class names such as Murad and Comfort Zone and comprises a 20 metre pool, hydrotherapy pool, thermal bathing suites, a TechnoGym and exercise studio offering a wide range of classes. The resort offers individual treatments, spa days and longer breaks.

Recently, Rockliffe Hall’s spa announced The Wellness Factor for 2013 which features a range of treatments, spa days and breaks designed to help people get on the path to a healthier, more balanced lifestyle and provide the necessary information and techniques to improve wellbeing.

The spa already has a number of awards to its name including the Hotel Cateys’ Spa Professional of the Year 2011 for Liz Holmes, LateRooms Best Kept Secret Spa and has 5 “Bubbles” from the Good Spa Guide.
