Plans unveiled for 600 new Hartlepool homes
Plans to build a £155m housing development in Hartlepool have been put forward to the Borough Council by property firms, JC Musgrave and Helios Properties.
The companies already have permission to build 168 houses on the site, called Wynyard Park, and new proposals will see 600 more homes being built.
Wynyard Park is a 700-acre site, and JC Musgrave and Helios Properties hope to create a sustainable community that brings businesses, homes and leisure facilities together in one location.
Future plans for the site also include woodland nature trails, lakes and cycling paths as well as a primary school, community centre and a pub.
Chris Musgrave, chief executive of Wynyard Park Ltd, commented: “If successful, this development will be the start of progressive action within the control of Hartlepool Borough Council and could bring real tangible benefits to the council and the town as a whole.
“This is an exciting time for Wynyard Park with work starting on site in the next couple of months and this application is a continuation of the masterplan.
“As one of the most successful business parks in the north of England, we are keen to build on this success and further develop the site so we can continue to attract major businesses and investment to the park.
“The housing development and subsequent infrastructure would help to achieve this and deliver a vital economic boost to the local area and indeed the region.”
Hartlepool’s economy will benefit from improved infrastructure around the Wynyard Park site, and the Council expects additional revenues of £1.5m from council tax.
Plans for future development also include a new £300m hospital, and construction is due to start in 2017.
The site is currently home to 65 businesses and approximately 1,650 residents.
