Leading installer gears up for renewable energy show

The designer and installer of Shropshire’s largest renewable energy installation will be exhibiting at a two-day event for farmers and landowners being held in the Midlands in February.

Shrewsbury-based 7 Energy will be demonstrating the latest in green heating technology at the Energy Now Expo as well as showcasing the £1.2 million solar PV project completed last year for a county poultry farmer.

The Expo, on February 13 and 14, will be held at Telford International Centre in association with the National Farmers Union and the Country Landowners Association.

Managing director of 7 Energy, Martin Dowley, said: “We’re delighted to be exhibiting at this event which features the latest renewable energy opportunities for farmers and landowners.

“We’re looking forward to talking to delegates about the renewable energy options we offer and about the projects we have completed across the region which are already saving our customers money on their energy bills.

“We will also have a ‘cut-away’ OkoFEN boiler on the stand which allows us to really show visitors how efficient the systems are and exactly why OkoFEN leads the field in wood pellet boiler technology.”

The company recently completed its first dual installation of a wood pellet boiler and a solar PV system in the Stretton Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it was also the installer of the region’s largest solar PV installation.

The scheme saw more than 2,300 panels installed at two poultry farms owned by farmer Edward Davies, including a 150 metres-long ground array of 1,200 panels in Ludlow.

The flagship installation, which produces around 433,472 kWh a year, attracts the Feed-in-Tariff and should pay for itself within eight years.

Mr Dowley added: “With the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive now well and truly up and running for commercial installations, which can include farm and agri-businesses, customers are seeing the clear financial benefits of renewable energy.

“For many of our customers, the RHI is paying out more via the incentive a year than the annual cost of the fuel. And with so many farms and rural businesses off gas-grid and reliant on costly oil to heat their properties, we are expecting a lot of interest at the Expo in our green heat systems.”

More than 160 product and service suppliers are exhibiting at the two-day event which includes a conference and expert panel debates on wind, biogas, biomass as well as solar and ground source heating.
