Nottingham firm celebrates major contract success

A Nottingham company is celebrating a strong start to the year after winning a £500,000 contract on the back of creating a new testing facility at its Beeston home.

Hygienic Pigging Systems (HPS) has launched a client testing and training facility at its 8,500 sq ft base in Evelyn Street which it moved to last year helped by funding from Yorkshire Bank’s Nottingham Business and Private Banking Centre.

The firm specialises in using pipeline inspection gauges, which are often referred to as ‘pigs’, to perform various product recovery and maintenance operations on pipelines to ensure they operate at maximum efficiency. It has landed a £500,000 contract with a world leader in personal care products to roll out its technology at one of the organisation’s UK plants.

HPS Operations Director Stefan Olszok said the financial support from Yorkshire Bank which enabled the company to move to a larger facility is already proving fruitful.

Stefan said: “In order to secure new business we took the decision to develop a testing system which allows clients and potential new customers to test our technology before making a financial commitment.

“Building a precise replica of the site application and inviting clients to come and validate the complete system has proved extremely popular and was certainly a key factor in us winning this substantial new contract, along with attracting further international organisations to work with us.

“We just wouldn’t have been able to offer this kind of service at our old facility as it was bursting at the seams and we’d outgrown it.”

HPS now employs around 25 people and has created new engineering positions to meet the growing demand for its services.

Stefan added: “The move was a couple of years in the making and we always thought by expanding we could take the business to the next level and that has certainly proved to be the case.

“Yorkshire Bank backed us when we needed support to refurbish the facility to a high standard and we are appreciative of the on-going support they are giving us.”

Graham Harper, business development manager at Yorkshire Bank’s Nottingham Business and Private Banking Centre on Castle Meadow Road, said Hygienic Pigging Systems is a perfect example of a growing business which has taken advantage of a range of measures available to support local companies.

Graham said: “Hygienic Pigging Systems has achieved great success since investing in new premises and is continuing to create highly skilled jobs for Nottingham and the East Midlands region.

“Yorkshire Bank recently unveiled a Growing Business package of measures to support companies when making the next step, just as Hygienic Pigging Systems did, which includes fee-free loans and overdrafts, enhanced switching offers and access to a business expansion fund.

“We are delighted to be supporting Stefan, managing director Gilbert Murphy and the rest of the management team behind the business and congratulate them on their latest contract success and look forward to working with them to support the continued growth of the business.”
