Packaging company backs young footballers
GM Packaging (UK) Ltd has handed a group of young footballers a much-needed financial boost.
Leading food packaging and catering disposables supplier GM Packaging has helped revive the fortunes of Bedlington Town FC Hawks after donating cash to buy a brand new strip for the under- 14s.
The firm, which is based on the Tyne Tunnel Estate in North Shields, has also taken over as sponsor of the team, giving the Hawks a vital lift after a stuttering start to their league campaign.
The team has struggled to field a team in recent weeks due to a decline in player numbers and has had to miss several matches as a result.
The Hawks currently lie third from bottom in the NEYDL U14 Premier League but have four games in hand over the team above them.
Having also completed the signings of three new players, Jack Lambert, Dylan Mason and Ronan Heppell Hardy, and seen three players return, things are now looking up for the group of youngsters who recorded an excellent win over Ponteland in their first game back.
Club treasurer Steve Hallowell said the club is extremely grateful to GM Packaging for the donation and appreciates the company’s valuable support.
He added: “The lads are thrilled with the new strip and we will now look to climb the NEYDL table as quickly as possible.”
