Good provenance helps vitamin and supplements industry

The online vitamin and supplements industry can benefit by learning from the mistakes of the food sector and making the provenance of its products clearly traceable, say pharmacists at www.thrivevitamins.co.uk.

Brian Duggan, who is also a director at the company, said greater trust – and thus business growth – can be gained if consumers know where the vitamins and ingredients are coming from.

He said: “Traditionally, there has been a lot of trust placed on the food sector that the products are what they are labelled as being, and come from trusted sources. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that this has not always been the case with regards the supply chains of some retailers.

“In contrast, there is often some scepticism surrounding products such as vitamins and health supplements purchased online. However, our pharmacy-assured service takes care to ensure that all products are certified in the same way that you would expect when buying from a chemist’s store on any high street.”

All products distributed by thrivevitamins.co.uk are sourced and certified by UK-based manufacturing companies.

thrivevitamins.co.uk was launched earlier this year by retail expert Alan Beesley and pharmacist Brian Duggan, with support from Peter Batty, the chief executive of one of the North of England’s largest pharmacy groups. The service tailors the supply of vitamins to the user’s own lifestyle and brings pharmacy assured service to the online marketplace.

A new way of taking vitamins, thrivevitamins.co.uk is aimed at changing the way millions of people can access this important part of the health market, using innovative new daily vitamin pouches.

The service provides a personalised 28 day supply of vitamins unique to the customer’s own lifestyle and health and wellbeing needs.

Mr Duggan said: “It is important that people take the vitamins which are best suited to their lifestyles, not simply buying a bottle of one particular tablet or capsule and assuming that this will work for them if taken daily. It is rarely the case that this is the right way of going about things. Additionally, the lifestyle survey customers fill out checks if they are taking any other medication, because there are some combinations which are not good for the person taking them.”
