Aspire Scoops Yorwaste Contract

North East managed services provider Aspire Technology Solutions has successfully completed a prestigious £240k infrastructure project for leading waste management and recycling company Yorwaste Ltd.

Following a competitive tender process, Northallerton-based Yorwaste awarded Aspire the contract which covers the migration of existing services to a virtualised environment within Aspire’s data centre, the simplification of the telephony estate, 24/7 IT support and the delivery of a secure WAN (Wide Area Network) linking Yorwaste’s 19 sites.

Stephen McNickle, Sales Manager for Aspire, explains: “Yorwaste was operating with a number of disparate systems and suppliers and therefore wanted to update their infrastructure and consolidate services with a view to reducing costs whilst embracing technology best practice.

“We therefore migrated Yorwaste’s key servers and business applications including their Mitel telephony solution to a virtualised environment within our data centre facility in Sunderland which has contributed significantly to their Disaster Recovery plan, dramatically reduced Mitel maintenance and provided a more cost-effective and scalable IT infrastructure.

“Furthermore, we have utilised Yorwaste’s existing hardware for data backup purposes. Not only do we backup all services to our secondary data centre in London but the existing hardware located at Yorwaste’s Northallerton head office also replicates the data centre services in order to ensure business continuity.

“Moving forward, we will help Yorwaste to further improve their business operations through the effective use of IT and expect to migrate more of their existing services to our data centre, thereby resulting in a fully- managed infrastructure for the organisation.”

Established in 1993, Yorwaste provides a wide range of recycling and waste management services to local authorities, businesses and residents throughout the UK.
