Inspiring Entrepreneurs
We’ve all had times when we’re banging our heads against the keyboard in frustration. Back when I was working as a freelance web developer nothing caused me bigger headaches than tackling my accounts.
There didn’t seem to be any software program that could ease the pain that was end of month invoicing, so one day I decided to build something myself and KashFlow was born!
A lot of the entrepreneurs I speak to tell of a similar spark of inspiration (or frustration!) along the lines of “Why the hell hasn’t anyone done this before?”, but lately at KashFlow we’ve noticed an interesting trend of TV inspiring would-be entrepreneurs to turn their daydreams of starting a business into reality.
Inspired by watching TV?
Long running favourites like Dragon’s Den and The Apprentice have brought business from the boardroom to the sitting room. Fair enough, TV shows like this may not be 100% representative of real life business situations (squabbling in meetings? People shouting at you in a new business meeting?) but for some would-be business owners, it’s just the kick they need to think “Hey, I could do better than that!”
What’s more, we’ve seen a drastic increase in the number of bakers and bakery businesses in the wake of popular television show, The Great British Bake Off. It might not be good for your waistline, but turns out it could be good for your bottom line!
The lightbulb moment
Whether it’s a personal passion, a pet peeve or a favourite TV show that gives you that lightbulb moment to start a business, a flash of inspiration is always the first step. So, where did the idea to start your business come from?
