Northgate invests in its Apprenticeship Scheme

This Apprenticeship Week Northgate is encouraging young guns to consider a future career in the fleet industry, as the market leader in flexible vehicle hire and complete fleet management solutions gets set to increase its investment in apprenticeships as part of its 2013 business growth strategy.

With 65 technical and non-technical apprentices already employed by Northgate Vehicle Hire across the UK, the company is set to increase the figure in the next academic year.

Northgate Vehicle Hire holds its training scheme in partnership with the Ford Masters Apprenticeship Programme and the certified Mercedes-Benz programme, supporting Northgate’s strategy to support its employees in their growth and development within the company.

Ian Dunn, Head of Training at Northgate, commented: “Having trained on an apprenticeship scheme myself I would encourage any industry hopefuls to look at apprenticeship schemes as a great route to their future career in the fleet industry. Not only do our apprentices receive hands on training via our block release training structure, we also look to continue our apprentices’ employment after they have qualified.

“In today’s choppy climate, valuable experience and a strong qualification is a sure fire way to get a head start in the job market, something which Northgate is keen to support and encourage via our Apprenticeship Scheme.”

Abby Gorman, who is training on Northgate’s Ford Masters Apprenticeship Programme at the company’s Cannock based depot, commented: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as an apprentice under Northgate’s Ford Masters Apprenticeship Programme.

“I am just about to complete my first NVQ year and have already gained a wealth of valuable hands on experience, leaving me confident that when I fully qualify I will have all the tools I need to kick start my career within the fleet industry. The support and dedication Northgate has shown to me and my fellow apprentices is fantastic; I would recommend an apprenticeship with Northgate to anyone looking to train under a company with a strong industry presence and real kudos.”
