Earn While You Learn-An Alternative to Higher Education?

The number of young people applying to go to university has fallen since the inflated rise in tuition fees last year. So options for this age group seem to be limited, but are they?

Apprenticeships such as those provided by AAT offer an alternative route into the world of work, providing hands on practical experience coupled with classroom education as student progress through their programme. This can involve taking assessments but unlike school and university which dictate when a timetable, the student has the freedom and flexibility to choose when they would like to take the assessment, to ensure it fits in with their schedule, giving them power in their education. This alternative journey to the workplace has seen industry experts are call upon the government to give a greater priority to vocational qualifications, after a major report revealed that apprenticeships could result in comparable earnings to a university graduate.
