Celeb chefs + 5* resorts ignite business

CVO Fire, based in Newton Aycliffe, has recently completed a number of significant installations as it continues to grow as one of the top UK fireplace designers and manufacturers.

The company has been working with some leading brands both in the UK and around the world.

In the North East, CVO supplied one of its popular, energy efficient ‘Moderno’ flueless fires for the house used by the cast of reality TV series, Geordie Shore, while in Scotland the company installed its stunning Firewave burner complete with canopy at the new designer budget hotel, Motel One, in Edinburgh city centre.

Further south, CVO has installed its unique Ribbon fire at the 5* Hyatt Regency in London’s West End as well as working at Heston Blumenthal’s latest venture, the Riverside Brasserie in Bray, Berkshire. Here, CVO supplied the celebrity chef’s restaurant with its flueless Angel fire to complement the venue’s sleek, modern style.

As well as hotels and restaurants, CVO Fire has been working with property development companies including Aspire Properties in London, Properties by Arboretum in Knutsford and with the exclusive Reef Development in Bournemouth, supplying a number of different fires, some designed specifically for the individual developments.

Overseas, CVO has designed a bespoke flueless fire for the 5* Palmeraie Golf Palace in Morocco as well as supplying a range of fires and fireplaces for hotels and private apartments in Spain, Holland and Italy.

These new installations add to CVO Fire’s already prestigious client list which includes companies such as Marriott, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Banyan Tree and the Connaught Hotel, as well as domestic customers and house builders around Europe.

Thanks to these new contracts, in the last six months CVO Fire has seen its turnover increase by another 5% adding to the 70% year on year growth over the last few years, bucking the current downturn in manufacturing.

Since taking over the company in 2007, MD, Andrew Munro, and Christine Mcloughlin, CVO’s financial director, have doubled manufacturing output at its Newton Aycliffe headquarters. The workforce has also almost quadrupled- in 2007 CVO Fire had five staff but now has a team of 17.

Export continues to rise too with CVO showrooms in Munich, Holland, Norway and Italy where CVO’s British-made designs and quality are in high demand.

Speaking about CVO’s recent projects, Andrew Munro said: “We’re very fortunate to appeal to a wide market- everyone from domestic customers to world famous hotels, prestigious restaurants and exclusive property developments. We’ve invested a lot of time and money in our research and development to continually provide customers with exactly what they want and this is helping us to increase our manufacturing output in County Durham.”
