IT firm sells fabrication division

MC Ware has pledged to invest in its IT business after raising money from the sale of its engineering and fabrication division.

The Stokesley-based firm sold MC Ware Mechanical to GST Offshore Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will allow MC Ware to focus on its core IT business, which provides IT installation services to the offshore and marine sectors.

Jonathan Wheatley, who founded MC Ware in 1998, said he would invest in staff and IT systems as he looked to grow the business.

He said: “The money raised from the sale has given us security in this difficult climate.

“We’re going to put some of it aside to invest in new systems and probably take on extra IT engineers as well.

“We also intend to invest in our marine IT services business, including Vsat systems which provide fast, safe internet access at sea.

“I’m glad that the sale went through smoothly and now I’m going back to what I do best.”

MC Ware started life as an IT services firm and then launched its fabrication arm in 2010 to serve the oil and gas, subsea and offshore wind sectors.

Following the sale, MC Ware has 15 staff and a turnover of more than £2m.
