Letting agency strikes gold with people development award

A growing North East letting agency is the first in its sector in the North of England to win a prestigious accolade from a leading people management centre.

The Castledene Group, one of the largest letting agencies in the region, has been awarded Investors in People (IIP) Gold, which represents achievement of world-class best practice in people management.

IIP provides a framework for delivering improvement through people, which can be used by organisations to help with planning, enhance employee engagement and improve management effectiveness.

The Castledene Group is the first letting agency, working with idg as the official Investors in People partner in the North of England, to have achieved Investors in People Gold.

Gold status is described as ‘showing a truly cutting-edge organisation operating at the very highest levels of people management practice, using Investors in People to drive the business forward.’

Only the top three per cent of Investors in People organisations nationally achieve Gold accreditation. There are approximately 337 Gold organisations across the North of England, Isle of Man and Channel Islands working with idg.

The Castledene Group was established in August 2008 and now manages more than 1850 properties in the North East over six branches including Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Cleveland and Durham.

John Paul, managing director of the Castle Dene Group said:

“We’re so proud to have received such valuable recognition from Investors in People, especially having reached the Gold standard. Our team are all stars and we can’t thank them enough for their dedication.

“We’ve always ensured that good people management remains our top priority, and it’s wonderful to be recognised for our work. Employees are a company’s greatest asset and our competitive advantage - and the importance of having a talented, committed, loyal team on board should never be underestimated.”

The news comes as the group launches its ‘Rent to Own’ scheme through its Interlet branch, which enables potential homeowners to purchase a property with a small commitment fee and at a pre-agreed price, and allows the tenant to move into their new home straight away.

The scheme is aimed at those having problems getting onto the housing ladder whether they are self employed with less than three years of accounts, don’t have enough savings for a deposit or if they have a poor credit rating, county court judgements or arrears. It allows people to repair their credit file as they pay for their deposit alongside the rent.
