Buy Yorkshire: A Regional Conference of National Significance

Powered by The Yorkshire Mafia, the growing network of more than 13,000 entrepreneurs started as a LinkedIn group back in 2008, the Buy Yorkshire Conference will once again come to Leeds placing the region firmly on the national business agenda.

Despite being a regional event, the Buy Yorkshire Conference, which takes place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 24 and 25 April, will bring an unrivalled variety of guest speakers to an audience of business people covering topics of national significance including funding, transport, government legislation and opportunities for international trading.

The Conference will see more than 3,500 delegates attend the event giving them the chance to meet with 170 exhibitors, while also taking part in a series of invaluable workshops, which will give the audience an unrivalled opportunity to meet with, learn from and question some of the UK’s leading, high profile business speakers.

The highly anticipated Billion Pound Panel will return once again, featuring some of Yorkshire’s finest business people who have built up multi-million pound organisations and enterprises that collectively total over £1bn in value terms.

The Buy Yorkshire Conference also boasts an unparalleled line-up of speakers, giving first-hand insights into entrepreneurs responsible for businesses with household names. The speakers will share their business journeys, while also sharing views on the economy and financing, plus what barriers or opportunities are likely to shape the future of the UK market.

Coveted business professionals speaking at the two day event include Alastair Campbell, best known as Director of Communications and Strategy for Prime Minister Tony Blair; Michelle Mone, Founder of MJM International and one of the UK’s most successful female entrepreneurs; Alison Munro, CEO of High Speed Two Ltd (HS2); Rt. Hon. Michael Fallon, Minister for Business and Russell Gould, Head of Business for Wonga.

Covering all aspects of the financial spectrum, John Swarbrick, Head of Portfolio of BGF; Andrew Garner, CEO of Garner Associates; Nicola Horlick, Chairman of Rockpool Investments LLP; Kevin Gardiner, MD of Investment Strategy at Barclays; Tim Kiy, Corporate Affairs Director of Barclays and Jonathan Jenkins, Head of The Social Investment Business will all be taking to the stage at the conference, providing delegates with everything they need to know about securing, investing and growing their bank balance.

The Conference and exhibition will bring together thousands of executives and stakeholders from the Yorkshire business community and further afield to meet, network, share experiences, learn, build relationships and ultimately trade.

Event organiser, Geoff Shepherd comments: “This is the first time that any Conference in the North of England has brought this level and variety of business expertise to the stage. The Conference represents more than £450bn of revenue, making the event bigger than anything which takes place in Manchester, Liverpool or Newcastle.

He adds: “The conference has grown year-on-year to be even more impactful and relevant each time. We’re continuing to extend our offering to delegates rather than just resting on our laurels now we have a template that we know works; we’re pushing even harder to bring the best of the business world to Yorkshire. Businesses in the region are stronger together, and the Buy Yorkshire conference is the perfect platform for companies to develop much needed relationships with each other.”

The Yorkshire Mafia is the largest most active business collaboration group in the North of England with over 12,200 members; Buy Yorkshire sits as the annual showpiece in a year-long calendar of events.
