Manufacturing Advisory Service strengthened in North West

Manufacturers in the North West of England could benefit from a newly strengthened team of advisors at the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).

Located alongside the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub, the team has recruited two new members and set out plans to build on its recent milestone of helping 1,000 North West manufacturers.

MAS is a national service delivered within the different regions to help SME manufacturers with advice and support for expansion.

Engineer, John Olver, has been appointed as the MAS Manager in the North West to lead the team, which helps businesses across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Merseyside.

He joined as an advisor early last year, after 20 years of experience with a wide range of firms, including BAA, Alstom and several SMEs.

Mr Olver commented: “The North West is bucking many of the national trends with an often more innovative, collaborative and forward thinking approach to doing business in the 21st century.

“However, manufacturing businesses still struggle with certain issues on a daily basis, often without realising that there can be support available to them.

“MAS Advisors all have significant levels of experience within manufacturing and understand the issues that these businesses face.

“Now we have been boosted by two new advisors, we will be able to offer a more complete and intense geographical spread of support, building on the 350 part funded projects we’ve completed in the last year.

“Our aim is to ensure that the trend of success in the North West continues.”

John is joined in the team by five advisors, including Nick Brandwood, Mark Sutherberry, Donald Cartlidge, Phil Anders and Ian Wilson.
