Burberry branch out in Manchester
British fashion house Burberry is expanding its store on New Cathedral Street in Manchester, after experiencing greater demand for its luxury goods.
The brand will increase its presence with a 5,470 sq ft shop along with another New Cathedral Street tennant, LK Bennett who has extended the contract to occupy its store on the same street until 2020.
Joint-owners with Intu Properties, PRUPIM, said this move represents the high levels of strong retailer confidence felt in Manchester.
Ed Sellick, director of retail asset management at PRUPIM commented: “It is exciting for Manchester that retailers continue to recognise the city centre as a thriving shopping destination and with such a strong retail line up at New Cathedral Street and Manchester Arndale, we are seeing shopping in Manchester to grow from strength to strength.”
High-end shoe retailer Dune has also recently unveiled a new larger store in Manchester’s Arndale Centre, close to Kurt Geiger and Hotel Chocolat.
Part of New Cathedral Street and the Arndale Centre is owned by Intu Properties plc and PRUPIM, who are represented by letting agents Tushingham Moore and CBRE.
