Warrington stores form Retailer Union
Retailers in Warrington town centre have joined a new union in a bid to share best practice and maximise footfall.
Stores at the recently renovated Golden Square Shopping Centre, including Marks & Spencer, Topshop and Debenhams, have joined the Retailer Union led by the shopping complex’s general manager, Ian Cox.
Mr Cox said: “There are challenges facing all retailers at the moment. Linking businesses through the Union will create a level of mutual support that can only help overcome those challenges and make the most of the opportunities that are available.”
The centre now has over 675,000 sq ft in retail space and is owned by the Warrington Retail Limited Partnership, which is made up of Lend Lease, Legal & General and a client of Arlington Investors.
Golden Square’s union is the result of the Smile Award initiative, which invited consumers to vote for the best store for customer service in the shopping centre.
Results from the awards showed customers want stores to work more closely together on the various challenges and pressures within the retail sector.
Regular meetings have been scheduled for throughout 2013, and participating stores have pledged to work together on ways to innovate and add value to customer experience.
