President FD gains prestigious award nomination
Sheffield-based President Engineering Group is celebrating the success of its financial director Marie Cooper being named on the shortlist for the Young FD of the Year category in the 2013 FD’s Excellence Awards.
Marie is the only female to be selected amongst five other financial directors shortlisted from hundreds of nominations across the country.
As part of the two-stage process, Marie was invited to the London headquarters of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales) to be interviewed by a judging panel, which consisted of Sarah Hunt, founder of Equity FD, Stephen Bates, chairman of ITRS Group, Eddy Ankrett, non-executive director, TMW Media Agency and John Knowles, chairman of NanoSight.
The final event takes place on 9 May at the Marriott Hotel in London’s Grosvenor Square.
Marie said: “It is really exciting to have been shortlisted for this national award. It has been a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of interesting people and to raise the profile of our company on a national basis. Whoever wins, it will be a great experience to attend the event in May and I’m really looking forward to it.”
President Engineering Group Ltd (PEGL) was established in 2010 through a management buy-out from the Flow Group involving the Conflow and Bestobell Valves businesses.
The businesses were purchased by a Sheffield-based management team consisting of Marie, Mark Henley (managing director) and John Waddington (operations director).
