Transformation of historic Yorkshire mill office completed

The £500,000 refurbishment of an historic Edwardian mill office at Farsley, near Leeds, has been completed.

Sandsgate, which is situated in the heart of the Sunny Bank Mills complex, where YTV’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were filmed, has been transformed into a modern office location for the 21st century.

It comprises 9,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and was formerly the administrative engine room of one of the most famous family-owned mills in Yorkshire.

This month a UK technology company, which declined to be named, took 2,060 sq ft of quality office space at Sandsgate. This new letting came hard on the heels of a hat-trick of deals at the mill office last month.

John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, said: “The new letting is the culmination of the meticulous refurbishment of the Sandsgate building, which is now complete. It is a vindication of our belief in Farsley as an attractive out-of- town business location, even when faced with direct city centre competition.

“With over 85 per cent of the first phase of the refurbished Sandsgate building now occupied, we are now releasing a further 1,500 sq ft ground floor offices with own front door access direct to car park this month.”

The Sandsgate building, which is being marketed by Leeds property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips and Jones Lang Lasalle, is spread over three floors and there is on-site car-parking. Rents are in the region of £14 per sq ft to reflect the quality of the offices.
