Go-Ahead launches new bus company graduate scheme

Transport operator Go-Ahead has launched a new graduate scheme aimed at recruiting three talented people to work in its bus companies.

Go-Ahead will start the scheme this Autumn. The company is aiming to recruit three people due to graduate from higher education this summer to work in either Oxford Bus Company, Go-Ahead London or Go North East. The graduates will focus on bus operations.

Val Proctor, Go-Ahead HR Director said: “This builds on our existing engineering scheme which has been very successful, with some six graduates joining us over the past few years. As a business we are committed to recruiting and developing new talent and will be seeking high calibre people who are enthusiastic about public transport, commercially aware, have strong leadership potential and are willing to take a “hands-on” approach in their respective businesses.”

The graduates will be mentored during their two years with the bus company by the relevant managing director and operations director. Scheme participants will focus on the operational aspects of bus company management. It will also offer the opportunity to work across all areas of the business including bus driving, contract and project management, marketing and stakeholder relations. Short placements at other Go-Ahead bus companies will be available.

Applicants will undergo a rigorous assessment and selection process which is being managed for Go-Ahead by graduate recruitment agency Gradvert.

Gradvert Managing Director, Lisa Bean, said: “We are very excited to be working with Go-Ahead and are well-placed to add value by drawing on our head hunting experience in the graduate market. We will be aiming to find the very best candidates for this challenging and exciting programme.”

Graduates can apply for the scheme through the Gradvert website www.gradvert.com or by sending their CV and covering letter to go-ahead@gradvert.com.
