Finance professionals are hot property in Yorkshire
Accounting and finance professionals are hot property in Yorkshire as the manufacturing and service sectors look for talented people who can help drive business change and growth, according to the Hays Accountancy & Finance Salary Guide 2013.
Salaries in Yorkshire vary but in particular with the biggest changes in PAYE since 1944 and auto-enrolment payroll is a key area with payroll managers earning £35,000.
The region’s part-qualified accountants demand in the region of £24,500, compared to qualified finance managers who earn £48,000. At the more senior level, those who are heads of department such as a head of tax can take home £100,000 and Yorkshire’s audit directors earn £95,000.
With the competition for talented finance people gaining momentum in the region, the best employers are using a comprehensive benefits package to attract the top talent.
Nearly a fifth (17%) of employers felt that offering financial training support had one of the greatest impacts when hiring new staff.
Jackie Mordue, director of Hays Accountancy & Finance in South Yorkshire, commented: “The market for commercially-minded finance professionals across Yorkshire remains buoyant and notably the manufacturing and service sectors are driving demand, where businesses are seeing real signs of growth and therefore are looking to expand their finance functions on a permanent basis.
“There are also a number of financial hubs in the region such as Sheffield and Leeds, where some of the UK’s leading organisations are keen to attract high calibre finance professionals.
“As the competition for these individuals intensifies over the coming year, savvy accounting professionals are looking for employers who can help them progress their career either through financial training support or for qualified staff by supporting their career route to leadership potential.”
