DurhamGate shortlisted for national award

DurhamGate, County Durham’s leading regeneration project, has been shortlisted for a national award by the British Council for Offices (BCO).

The announcement was made at the BCO’s Northern England Awards held in Manchester.

DurhamGate was nominated in the projects up to 2000m2 category and collected the award at the event held at Manchester Town Hall.

The development, which is being delivered by a partnership between Carillion Developments, part of Carillion plc, and regional property business, Arlington Real Estate, will go up against other regional winners at a national awards ceremony in October.

DurhamGate won the award for the progress made at the development, which includes the new headquarters of homes and communities organisation, livin.

Following a 12-month build programme, livin transferred its 170-workforce from its old headquarters in Spennymoor and a number of satellite offices to the new purpose-built building at DurhamGate.

The design and construction of livin’s new building demonstrate the company’s commitment to a high quality 21st century approach to living and work. Built to strict BREEAM environmental standards, the headquarters offer significantly lower running costs than its previous offices.

It features a range of open-plan innovations to make the headquarters a dynamic, accessible and enjoyable place to work, with colleagues able to work more closely together and allowing greater cohesion between teams.

The livin offices is just one element of the development of DurhamGate, which has already attracted in the region of £45million of committed investment and is home to a number of businesses employing more than 400 people.
