B&M Bargain's Manchester owners enter Rich List

The owners of North West retailers B&M Bargains have appeared in the top 100 Sunday Times Rich List 2013, after selling a considerable share of the business.

Manchester-based brothers Robin, Bobby and Simon Arora reportedly entered the list at number 73, with a combined wealth of £1.1bn.

The firm, which sells a wide range of discounted home goods, is based in Speke near Liverpool and was established in 1978.

The brothers boosted their wealth from £487m in last year’s Rich List, where they came in at number 183, while the company has been valued at approximately £965m.

Robin Arora also appeared in the newspaper’s Young Rich List, where he was placed as the UK’s first billionaire under 30, although he shares his fortune with his two siblings.

B&M Bargains shared their mention on the list with a plethora of other North West business figures, including Peel Group’s John Whittaker and Tom Morris, who is the owner of rival discount store TJ Morris.

At the top of the North West entrants into the Rich List was the Duke of Westminster, who saw his wealth rise from £7.35bn in 2012 to £7.5bn this year.
