Yorkshire?s Disposables UK reveals Olympic contract

Yorkshire company Disposables UK, manufacturer of the Bay West range of washroom dispensing products for work environments, has announced that the range was chosen as a product of choice at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Strict protocols have, to date, precluded Disposables UK talking about its involvement, but it’s now cheers all round as the company reveals how it scooped gold to secure the work.

Having been recommended by one of its distributors, with whom the company worked in partnership to secure the prestigious contract, the Bay West product range was selected for the washroom facilities at venues within the Olympic Park.

Following a highly competitive tender process conducted by LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) in conjunction with Disposables UK’s distributor and involving a face-to-face meeting with the Disposables UK team, Bay West washroom dispensing products were selected for use in the Velodrome and Basketball stadium.

Such was the impression made that the company was then asked to supply additional Bay West products to the main stadiums and the press areas.

In all, some 16,000 Bay West dispensers were installed within the Olympic Park, and across the duration of the Games 7,500 cases of product, including toilet tissue, soap and hand towels, were delivered; 220,000 toilet rolls were used in conjunction with Bay West dispensers and 10,000 cartridges of soap were provided.

All of the products were manufactured on site at Disposables UK’s headquarters in Meltham, near Huddersfield.

Emma Wood, marketing manager, Disposables UK, commented: “We are immensely proud to have had this ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to provide our Bay West products to the 2012 Olympics.

“It is a massive accolade for the company and testament to both the strength of our products and the dedication and professionalism of everyone involved in the negotiations.”
