Simon promoted to partner with accountants

A dedicated accountant who joined his firm as a graduate 12 years ago has been made a partner within the business.

Simon Hook has progressed through the ranks of business advisers and accountants Clive Owen & Co LLP as a result of his dedication,contribution to the growth of the business and commitment to client service.

Simon, who works at the firm’s Durham office, has established a solid client base and built a reputation for delivering results and offering proactive advice.

Clive Owen & Co has been in Durham for 15 years and its move to the Mandale Business Park at Belmont from Aykley Heads was fundamental to further growth and a stronger and larger team then followed.

Simon, who lives in Newcastle, joined the firm in 2001. He qualified in 2004 and worked his way up to become audit manager in 2007 and director in 2010.

He has been instrumental in assisting with the development into specific sectors and manages clients in the bus/coach and transport sectors.

He has played a key role in improving the efficiency of systems within the firm and has been greatly involved in supporting the partners with wider aspects of the practice. The promotion underpins that and gives Simon further scope to develop new initiatives. He is now responsible for the audit department within the firm and works with clients to help them grow and prosper.

Gary Ellis, partner at Clive Owen & Co in Durham, said: “Simon is an extremely valuable member of the team and it was important for us to recognise the work he has done and his contribution to the firm.

“He has been with the practice for 12 years, starting as a trainee and it is particularly exciting to see how a member of the team can progress. We are pleased to be able to recognise this and reward the effort he has made.”

Simon added: “I knew Clive Owen & Co were a very progressive firm when I joined and I felt it was a great opportunity for me to develop a range of skills and show where I could make a difference.
