Leeds firm adds 22 properties in multi-million deal

A Leeds-based student accommodation firm has expanded its property portfolio with the acquisition of 22 properties.

The Khalastchi & Smith Partnership has added 130 beds across properties in Headingley and Hyde Park as part of a multi-million pound deal supported by The Co-operative Bank.

The firm now has over 100 properties across the city and expects the new accommodation to be fully refurbished and ready for the next academic year starting in September.

The transaction was arranged by Richard Eckles from The Co-operative Bank’s Corporate Banking Centre based on King Street in Leeds.

Established in 2009, The Khalastchi & Smith Partnership has gradually expanded its student accommodation portfolio and is now a leading private provider in Leeds with additional property in Humberside. It has banked with The Co-operative Bank since 2010.

Timothy Smith, Partner at The Khalastchi & Smith Partnership, said: “This move will help bring more high quality accommodation for students across Leeds. It also reaffirms our position as one of the city’s leading accommodation providers.

“We welcome The Co-operative Bank’s ongoing support. It has shown throughout its dealings with us that it is absolutely committed to supporting our success.”

Richard Eckles, corporate relationship manager, at The Co-operative Bank, said: “We’re delighted to strengthen our relationship with The Khalastchi & Smith Partnership by providing finance that will enhance facilities for hundreds of students that choose Leeds as their destination for higher education.

“We now look forward to helping the team to realise these ambitious plans.”
