Leeds to host Intelligent Cities conference
Leeds will host an “Intelligent Cities” conference in June, where experts will address the challenges in making cities more connected.
With presentations from Arup, EE, and IBM, the conference will look at how broadband and open data services can develop business and society, with 4G and health innovation on the agenda.
Rohit Talwar, a global futurist, profiled by the Independent, will speak alongside Paul Hadley who is the deputy director of Information Economy Industrial Strategy at BIS.
Director of NG Events and organiser of Intelligent Cities 2013, Marit Hendriks said: “The conference agenda includes discussions about the important changes and technological innovations which are being rolled out.
“From addressing the new innovations in technology in healthcare to creating an information society within a smart city, the agenda is designed to inform businesses on how this transformation to an intelligent city will benefit them.”
Lurene Joseph, chief executive of Leeds and Partners, added: “The Intelligent Cities conference will enable us to provide a platform for a more dynamic creative sector and encourage inward investment which can accelerate the digital transformation occurring within the city.
“The availability of ultra-fast connectivity within the city is a major attraction as we demonstrate that we are digitally enabled for businesses and the conference will allow engagement with the stakeholders delivering information and services to support future economic growth within the region across key sectors such as health innovation, financial and professional services and the wider economy.”
The event takes place at Leeds Metropolitan University on June 19, and tickets are £50. To register, visit this page.
