Northumbria University offers part-time courses to employees

At Northumbria we’re proud of our role in the region supporting local businesses and their staff. A key area where the University can help your organisation is with your staff’s development. Part-time study though Northumbria University can provide an answer to your organisations training and development needs. Northumbria is running over 150 part-time courses for 2013 entry and these courses offer a variety of study options, including campus-based day release or evening attendance and distance learning.

In addition to the traditional part-time courses we are also able to offer work-based learning programmes designed specifically around you and your organisations needs.

Our courses cover a wide range of subject areas and are designed to offer real skills which are relevant in today’s global workplace. Many are industry accredited and some programmes lead to exemptions from examinations of professional bodies and to membership of the appropriate profession.

Research Programmes

The University offers both Doctor of Philosophy degrees (PhDs) and Professional Doctorate awards on a part-time basis. Information for prospective postgraduate research students is provided by our Graduate School.

Work-based learning and bespoke training programmes

Fees and Funding

For individuals undertaking part-time postgraduate study Northumbria University offers flexible options to pay the course fees over 6 months where the fees are over £500. If your course is career related you can apply for a Professional and Career Development Loan from a bank which can range from £300 - £10,000. The University also has 20 postgraduate awards offering funding up to the value of £5,450 each. For more information on the awards including how to apply click here .

If you are interested in studying a part-time undergraduate degree you may be eligible for a Government tuition fee loan which means you wouldn’t have to repay your loan taken out for a course starting in September 2013 until the April after you course finishes and only then if you are earning over the repayment threshold of £21,000. Many employers see the benefits of sending their employees to study part-time with Northumbria and are happy to sponsor study. This may be by paying tuition fees, help with loans or perhaps time to attend study sessions.
