Regatta appoint Manchester architects
Outdoor business Regatta has appointed North West architects, Fletcher-Rae, to work on a new office facility in Trafford Park.
The office will be constructed for the group of outdoor brands Regatta, Craghoppers, Dare2B and Hawkshead.
Regatta, who are also based in the North West in Urmston, awarded the £5m contract to Fletcher-Rae after a competitive design and credentials process that involved two other firms.
The project will see the conversion and remodelling of Regatta’s existing industrial building which will be refurbished into an office, showroom, design shop, training facility and auditorium.
Two former colleagues will be brought together to work on the scheme, as Manchester-based interior design firm Space Invader’s director Simon Millington will work with Andrew Raw, with whom he worked for at his former practice.
Bob Fletcher, joint managing director at Manchester-based Fletcher-Rae, said: “The Regatta Group has established itself as a highly successful Manchester export and has ambitions to further continue and develop its global brands.
“We’re delighted to be working with a company that has such clear and ambitious expansion plans. This scheme will provide a cutting-edge facility that will support its future growth plans and transform the existing industrial site in Trafford Park.”
Keith Black, owner of Regatta, commented: “This project marks the next phase in our journey, as we continue to invest in our infrastructure and more importantly in our people.
“We are planning to create a working environment that will attract the very best and brightest talent in the North West.”
Regatta recently won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in international trade, and was praised for achieving a 66% increase in sales overseas in the past three years.
The firm exports to more than 54 countries and 75% of its export business comes from within the EU.
