Cheshire IT firm secures Government deal

Daresbury-based IT services business, Adept4, has been appointed as a supplier to the Government’s third G-Cloud framework, which was launched in 2012 as a way to cut costs in public sector IT.

The business, which is located in Daresbury Business Park in Cheshire, said this deal would allow it to target public sector organisations across the UK after gaining approval from the Government.

Adept4’s “Secure Email Service” product will be available on the Government’s CloudStore, which will enable public sector bodies to access the service without the firm going through lengthy procurement processes.

G-Cloud was launched by the Government last year to allow SMEs to compete for contracts and to cut IT costs within the public sector.

The Cabinet Office posted sales of £18.2m through the first two procurement frameworks, G-i and G-ii.

Central Government departments are now required to assess the potential of cloud solutions when they procure IT products before looking at other options under the “Cloud First” policy.

Paul Talbot, chief technical officer at adept4, said: “We’re delighted to have been re-appointed to this framework, which promotes healthy competition in the marketplace and allows SMEs to target public sector organisations without getting bogged down in the lengthy procurement procedures which often dog the public sector supply chain.”
