Accountant Balances Books Instead Of Plates

AN EX-WAITRESS is working on the other side of the payroll after returning to popular Hexham-based restaurant Danielle’s Bistro as its accountant.

Chartered accountant Claire Nixon was approached by owner Ricky Froldi after discovering that the 26-year-old had set up independent accountancy firm Clarand with partner Claire Priestley earlier this year.

Welcoming the chance to return to the Italian family-run business, she said: “Danielle’s Bistro has always felt like a home-from-home. I spent my late teenage years working for this lovely family and now it is my opportunity to give something back to them.

“Building our own entrepreneurial practice, we understand the challenges that come with running a business and with our combined experience at Clarand, we offer the best expert help, support and guidance that we can.”

Based at Tinklers Yard in Corbridge, Clarand Accountants already works with a growing number of small businesses, companies and individuals since its start up in March 2013.

She continued: “We pride ourselves in becoming an extension of every clients’ team as we can offer a more flexible, bespoke and friendly service and cater to their individual requirements.”

Restaurateur Ricky Froldi said: “The advice we have received from Claire in a matter of weeks has been more valuable in setting us on the right track to grow the business and increase turnover than we have had in years with larger firms.

“She looks at what we need, hunts out low cost opportunities in much more detail, executes ideas and business plans as well as keeping us right on our general finances and payroll for our staff.

“She understands the challenges facing small independent businesses and because I have known her for years, meant that there was an additional trust factor already and we are proud to welcome her back as part of our extended family.”

The Italian family-run business was established in 1995 by Mario Froldi before Ricky Froldi took over ownership in 2011 and currently employs six members of staff at its site on Eastgate.
