Battle of the Bands Returns For Round Five
LEADING North East music agency AMV Live Music is hosting its fifth Battle of the Wedding Bands on Thursday, May 23rd in association with Brides Up North.
Staged in the River Terrace at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, the free event will see five bands battling it out to be named best wedding band in the North.
Battle of the Wedding Bands has experienced roaring success since launching in 2012 with cover bands such as: The Flytes, Lindsay Hannon Plus, Redwings and Jammin’ 45s performing live to a 200 strong audience.
Teaming up with premier online wedding site, Brides Up North, this year’s event will showcase music from some of the best cover bands in the region including: Livewire, The Fontains and Grace Under Pressure.
Managing director of AMV, Andy Garner, said: “Battle of the Wedding Bands is a great way to get talented artists heard by the wedding consumer. Brides and Grooms-to-be can listen to acts in a live setting and book their favourite there and then.
“Music at a wedding is vital to set the scene, the mood and the atmosphere of the guests and can help to make the day really special. The band can often be one of the last things to get booked, and many of the best ones get snapped up so this gives the audience the chance to grab the fresh talent early.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting an event at BALTIC. It’s a fantastic space and can hold a lot of people so it’s perfect.”
Tara Robson, event planner at Fresh Element based at BALTIC, Centre for Contemporary Arts, said: “We have many weddings within BALTIC so we were keen to be a part of this event and hear some of the fresh local talent out there. It is a great way for those planning their weddings to see the different styles of music and be able to book up on the night.
“AMV has been tremendous to work with and we wish all of the bands the best of luck.”
Garner added: “AMV is all about championing great, local music. Over 80% of the artists in our portfolio either have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in music so are very serious and talented musicians. Our acts can play anything from classical to rock and roll - whatever genre of music you need for your wedding, we can supply it.”
Battle of the Weddings Bands is free to attend on Thursday May 23, 2013 from 7.30pm until 11pm. BALTIC’s Six restaurant is also offering an ‘early bird offer’ of two courses for £16.
