Top economists speak at Sheffield investment conference
More than 50 financial advisers from the South Yorkshire and Midlands region were given an in-depth insight into the markets at the annual IFA Investment Conference, hosted by Investec Wealth & Investment at the Mercure St Paul’s Hotel in Sheffield last week.
Keynote speakers at Investec Wealth & Investment’s fifth annual investment conference included Investec’s chief economist Philip Shaw, who opened the event with a presentation summarising his views on the current economic climate.
John Bennett, director of European equities at Henderson Global Investors, then presented the case for investing in Europe and Chris Hills, Investec Wealth and Investment’s chief investment officer, outlined his thoughts on asset allocation.
The final main platform presentation was a round-up of matters relating to the Retail Distribution Review by head of intermediary services at Investec Wealth & Investment, Mark Stevens.
Owen Wright, investment director at Investec Wealth & Investment, said: “This was a very well attended event and is part of further developing our relationships with financial advisers in this area.
“As our fifth annual conference, it is becoming known in the calendar for being both informative and enlightening and we had a great response from delegates.”
The conference was the first to use tablet-based interactive technology throughout the event to enhance the delegate experience via the use of real-time polling and speaker questioning.
Investec Wealth & Investment has a partnering relationship with a number of local financial advisers, providing specialist investment management for their clients.
