Pimlico Plumbers goes ?green?
Pimlico Plumbers, the UK’s largest independent plumbing firm, is improving its green credentials after taking steps to improve the energy efficiency of its head office.
The family owned and managed firm, which is based in central London and operates a 24hr call centre, has had upgrades made to its building, including insulation and a more efficient lighting system.
Charlie Mullins, founder and managing director of Pimlico, explains: “Here at Pimlico we have always been very aware of our environmental impact, especially when it comes to our vehicles, and we are always looking at ways to reduce our CO2 emissions.
“We have now turned our attention to our head office by having some alterations made that will improve our carbon footprint. We have taken down the ceilings in the upper floors to add insulation and replaced the lighting with newer more energy efficient alternatives.”
The upgrades will help reduce the company’s carbon emissions while impacting on its energy expenditure and are part of wider moves being made to improve the energy efficiency of the company.
Charlie added: “Our own carpenters and electricians managed the upgrades and they’ve done a great job. I don’t get much of an opportunity to see our tradesmen at work these days and this project has reinforced my belief that we do really employ some of the best trades people in London!”
