Ice Renewables agrees Norvento nED 100kW turbine contract

ICE Renewables, the North Yorkshire-based specialist distributed wind company, has secured a head of terms contract to handle the first nED 100kW turbine in the UK, with Spanish manufacturer, Norvento.

The turbine was already the subject of strong interest and ICE Renewables, based on the Crabtree Hall Business Centre in Northallerton, has clients with submitted planning applications.

Speaking about the contract with Norvento, ICE Renewables CEO and chair of Renewable UK’s Small and Medium Wind Strategy Group, Julian Martin said: “Securing this agreement is excellent news for ICE Renewables. It ensures that we are able to offer our clients a leading three blade, 100kW turbine.

“The nED 100 is ideal for a variety of locations such as factories, farms, shopping centres, tourist and leisure centres, schools, colleges and residential areas.

“This turbine complements our existing portfolio and enables us to offer even more solutions to our customers.”

Conceived and designed by Norvento, the nED 100 delivers excellent performance and complies with the same requirements demanded for large wind turbines.

The exclusive variable pitch and speed system on the nED 100 make it possible to reach aerodynamic efficiency in any wind conditions.

This maximises the amount of power outputted by the turbine. The nED 100’s multi-pole permanent-magnet, synchronous generator and the machinery construction allows a mechanical efficiency close to 100 per cent.

Establishing itself as one of the leading distributed wind specialists in medium and megawatt sized wind projects, ICE Renewables has experienced record growth over the past 18 months, with an increase in turnover of over 300%.

Employer of 20 people, the company is led by a management team with more than 35 years of experience in the wind and renewable energy market.
