Newcastle restaurant is ?good neighbour' to local businesses

Entrepreneurial siblings at an Italian restaurant are launching a special deal for neighbouring companies in Newcastle city centre.

Geordie-Italians Aldo, Joseph and Cristina De Giorgi, who own Pasqualino’s Bar-Pizzeria on Market Street, are offering their neighbours a 10% discount on all drinks when booking a staff meal for ten or more people – and the organiser will receive a free bottle of wine.

The family recently celebrated the restaurant’s first anniversary with a £100,000 investment in an open kitchen, and the siblings are well known in the Newcastle dining scene, having created some of the city’s most popular bars and restaurants including Paradiso, Popolo, Intermezzo, Alvinos, Secco, Don Vito’s and 9Bar Coffee.

Cristina De Giorgi said: “Whether people want to celebrate a promotion, throw a party, thank staff for hard work, or just let off steam because it’s pay day, we’re ideally located for a lot of city centre businesses and we boast a contemporary destination bar with a great selection of continental beers and cocktails, as well as an impressive menu of authentic Italian dishes.

“Now that the weather’s improving, we’ve also launched a new range of light, healthy summer salads to encourage diners to ‘lighten up for summer’. The warmer, longer evenings provide the perfect opportunity for staff to socialise together after work and we look forward to welcoming our neighbours to Pasqualino’s.”

The summer salads are £8.95 each and include a grilled goats’ cheese salad with fregola, roast peppers, rocket with a herb and shallot dressing, or a marinated grilled chicken salad with baby gem lettuce, croutons, soft boiled egg and parmesan dressing.

Diners can also choose cured mackerel with fennel, watercress, capers, sourdough crostini and saffron mayonnaise, or Sardinian rosemary and sea salt crisp bread with aubergine and mint caviar, rocket and toasted seed salad and pecorino cheese.

The restaurant has also launched a set menu deal. From 12-2pm, diners can order two courses for just £6.95 or three courses for £8.95 from the set menu, which includes any starter, any pizza or pasta dish, and a tub of Pasqualino’s ice cream. From 5.30pm onwards, two courses cost just £8.95, or £10.95 for three courses.
