Kier Sheffield service recognised with national award wins

Kier Sheffield is celebrating a double success at the Considerate Constructors Scheme National Company Awards 2013, recognising the company’s dedication to being a good neighbour to the local community and ranking it in the top 10% of sites in the UK.

An award-winning partnership between Sheffield City Council and repairs and maintenance provider Kier, Kier Sheffield was praised as ‘exceptional’. The company was presented with a Silver award in recognition of its considerate practices while working on a project to co-locate two Sheffield primary schools, and a Bronze award for the service it provides to sheltered accommodation across the city.

Kier regional operations director, Phil Oades, said: “We are extremely proud to be presented with these awards. Over 500 companies are registered on the scheme but only 59 received Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards this year.

“Receiving two awards is testament to the hard work of every member of the Kier team who work tirelessly to ensure that the residents of Sheffield are receiving the best possible service every day.”

The awards follow a number of high scoring Considerate Constructors Scheme reports for Kier Sheffield projects across the city, including the recognised relocation of the Woolley Wood Primary School to the site of the existing Mansel Primary School, and installation of state-of–the-art learning facilities to the new site to provide inclusive learning opportunities for disabled young people, which achieved many outstanding reports during the lifetime of the project.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme was established in 1997 and aims to improve the image of the construction industry.

Companies registering their sites with the scheme agree to be considerate, a good neighbour, clean, respectful, safe, environmentally conscious, responsible and accountable.

Kier Sheffield, which is responsible for repairs and maintenance to housing stock managed by Sheffield Council, as well as schools and public buildings, has improved on its performance in last year’s awards programme when it picked up two Bronze awards.
