Enterprise campaign goes on tour
Entrepreneurs from around the country will have chance to explore their money-spinning ideas as StartUp Saturday goes on the road to visit over seven cities.
A series of Saturday workshops will offer would-be entrepreneurs and businesses within their first two years of trading advice on everything from managing finances to raising profile.
As part of the Enterprise Nation campaign, the tour will take in day long events in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Belfast, Edinburgh, Newcastle and London.
Enterprise Nation founder, Emma Jones, said: “We’re not expecting groups of screaming teenagers, but we are hoping to play sell-out gigs to tomorrow’s business owners - people who want to take their passion, hobby, skill or who have spotted a gap in the market and want to know how to turn it into a great business in a day.
“StartUp Saturday delivers all the content people need to start and grow a business and gain the confidence they need to take the next step.”
The tour will start in Manchester City Library on June 1, and is sponsored by ICAEW and office provider Penelope, as well as the British Library and IP Centre.
Pharmacy worker, Phillip Crilly attended a StartUp Saturday workshop in February to seek advice on turning his idea for a gluten-free food product into a business.
Phillip said: “Although I’m happy in my career, I’ve always had an ambition to start my own business and felt this was the year to get started. The recession has meant career progression is limited, so starting a business in the hours of 5-9pm and at weekends seems like a great way to set myself new challenges and develop new skills.
“I attended a StartUp Saturday workshop with Emma Jones and came away massively motivate With the aid of The StartUp Kit (and lots of encouragement from Emma), I set to work and haven’t looked back. My product launches in xx weeks and I’m on my way to making sales, getting known and building a future for myself!”
