Growing Shipley tyre firm pumps up for success

A flourishing tyre company in Shipley is determined to make sure things do not go flat after linking up with a scheme designed to help firms expand and progress.

Click on Tyres, which trades mainly online and offers a fitting service to the local area, is targeting £1m turnover this year after another successful 12 months, during which it has linked up with the Rising Stars business growth programme, a support scheme jointly delivered by Bradford Council and Bradford Chamber of Commerce.

Damian Kenefick began trading as Shipley-based Click on Tyres in April 2010 and has seen his business grow rapidly year on year.

Now, with regular meetings with business growth adviser Carolyn Townsley, he is confident of an even brighter future for Click on Tyres.

Mr Kenefick has also been boosted by the news his firm has been selected for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business programme, which is set up to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity, thanks to help with the application and interview process from Carolyn.

Mr Kenefick said: “The reason I approached Rising Stars is because the business grew so quickly and I needed some support structuring it. I now have regular meetings and they have really helped focus me and helped with the planning and direction of my business.

“I feel I’m mainly entrepreneurial and I’ve got lots of ideas, but needed them to be more formulated and clear, which Rising Stars has helped with.

“They’ve also given me great guidance about staff and my obligations to them,” he added.

Rising Stars business growth programme business services manager Carolyn Coleman said: “Click on Tyres is a successful company but Damian Kenefick knew there was even more it could achieve and had lots of ideas.

“Rising Stars is providing Click on Tyres with assistance in producing good systems, procedures and plans to take the business forward to make it even more successful.”
