150 jobs at risk across Balfour Beatty sites
Balfour Beatty is set to close three of its UK sites, following a review of its regional business in April.
The closures affect sites in Dartford, Rochdale and Doncaster and will put 150 jobs at risk.
Balfour sight lack of construction activity and a disproportionately high cost base. The firm has advised employees at its Dartford base that there could be job losses and relocation of individuals.
Two smaller sites in Rochdale and Doncaster are said to be “no longer sustainable,” and employees there have been given a similar message.
The three sites account for around 8% of Balfour’s UK regional business, which generated £1.5bn in revenue in 2012.
At the same time, Balfour announced it has secured a £110m contract to construct a 43-storey Providence Tower residential scheme for Landor.
