Experienced recruitment manager is headhunted for key role

Nortech Staffing Solutions, which sources and provides permanent and temporary personnel in the process, offshore, onshore oil & gas, steel and iron industries, has itself made a key appointment.

Gary Fish, 41, has been appointed recruitment manager for the company which was formed last year by Nortech, the Wynyard-based international project management and engineering design company.

Nortech Staffing Solutions uses the ‘headhunting’ search and selection process to find new candidates, building its own professional database created by research, recommendation and networking specific companies and projects within their specialist sector.

Mr Fish, who previously ran his own highly successful recruitment firm working in the engineering and manufacturing sector, said: “I am challenged with improving processes within staffing, finding the right people for Nortech as well as developing our recruitment services into the external market place.

“We feel some of the best candidates will not be actively searching for new roles yet may feel undervalued within their current role, they feel they may want a fresh challenge but not know how to go about it.

“Through assiduous research we know when projects are coming to an end and we seek to match the right person to their next role in a company whose culture they fit into. We then have a policy of keeping in touch with those people; building on the relationship started at introduction and with the companies to ensure all is well.”

Mr Fish said part of his role was also to find the right people for Nortech Solutions and Nortech Oil and Gas, which presently have 78 staff and are set to grow 40 to 50% this year.

Nortech Solutions recently won Newcomer of the Year in the 2013 North East Business Awards, with judges citing the unique qualities of Nortech’s services, the dedication and pursuance of its business plan and evidence of its managerial and financial performance.

“Gary is a mature performer and well respected in this very specialised sphere of recruitment. His appointment is key to our continuing adherence to offering a quality service to clients, providing them with the correct personnel to suit job vacancy requirements.”

He added that Nortech Staffing Solutions is already providing clients with personnel for contracts and tendering for new contracts throughout the UK and globally.
