Yorkshire company supply ground protection to rugby club
Yorkshire-based ground protection supplier has provided rugby union team Saracens with protection for their pioneering artificial playing surface this summer.
Thousands are set to descend on Allianz Park this weekend to watch the British and Irish Lions’ first test match against Australia.
The increase in footfall and weight poses a risk to the playing surface, which came into use in late-January.
Groundtrax’s PitchProtecta ground protection sits above the artificial turf, preventing damage from increased pedestrian traffic and from the 13 tonne screen that will sit in the middle of the pitch.
PitchProtecta utilises a self-aligning nesting connection system, ensuring it is securely locked together, protecting the ground beneath from excessive rainwater and weathering damage.
This gives the turf the necessary aeration to maintain a healthy condition during excessive foot traffic and usage.
GroundTrax Director Simon Adams said: “We are very proud to be protecting the impressive pitch at Allianz Park and have enjoyed working with Saracens.”
He added: “The pitch at the Allianz is a real asset to the club and we were delighted to be able to help them protect it this summer.”
