Northern museums safe from closure says Vaizey
The Culture Minister Ed Vaizey has said there was “no question” of museums in three Northern cities closing due to cuts.
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Vaizey stressed the museums in Manchester, Bradford and York would not be subjected to a level of cuts where closures would be necessary.
The Science and Museums Group (SMG), which operates the National Railway Museum in York, the National Media Museum in Bradford and Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry, had reported it may face closures should cuts occur.
