Deloitte man for pro.manchester chair role
Tim Grogan, director at Deloitte in the North West, has been appointed chair of future pro.manchester, the committee for young financial and professional services professionals in Greater Manchester.
Tim replaces outgoing chair Donna Powell, corporate solicitor at Gateley, who had held the position since May 2012. He will be supported in his new role by Paul McGlone, commercial business partner at DWF, who has been appointed vice-chair.
Tim has been at Deloitte since joining the firm on graduation from Salford University in 2002. He works on key PLC audit accounts in the North West and has particular expertise in capital markets.
He will use his time as chair of future pro.manchester to drive forward the talent agenda in the city with the aim of broadening membership and promoting the benefits of getting involved in pro.manchester.
Tim said: “Having been involved with the future pro.manchester committee since 2010, it’s an honour to be appointed chair. I’m keen to use my time to ensure that we reach out as much as possible with our events and I want all young professionals, even those in the first year of their careers, to be encouraged to come along. It is never too early to start developing your network and getting to know peers.
“I want to spread the message that our events are both useful and enjoyable. As professionals it makes sense to have a good network of colleagues and I know from experience it works from a new business perspective. Crucially, I want to help people recognise that future pro.manchester events involve like-minded people and are great fun. Throughout the next year we’ll be looking at new ways of getting this across.
“I’d like to thank Donna for her hard work as chair in the past year. I’ve inherited an organisation in great shape and with a bright future. I’d also like to thank Paul for agreeing to be vice chair to the committee.”
John Ashcroft, chief executive of pro.manchester, said: “Manchester is now recognised at the leading financial and professional services city outside London and home to some fantastic talent. Future pro.manchester plays a vital role in bringing these young professionals together and helping nurture future talent. I know Tim and Paul will form a formidable team as they drive the organisation forward.”
Future pro.manchester is part of pro.manchester, the leading corporate membership organisation. Last year, future pro.manchester organised more than 20 events attended by over 1,000 young professionals.
