Sunderland schools ready for Work Discovery Week
MORE than 1500 young people from around 20 schools will get a real taste of what the future could have in store for them at Sunderland’s first Work Discovery Week event.
Around 40 top businesses from around the region have signed up to take part in the innovative project which runs across the city from July 1 – 5.
Young people will take part in everything from visits to business and industry, join a city bus trip with business leaders and present their answers to a range of business problems to a panel of experts.
The event kicks off at the Stadium of Light on Monday (July 1) where around 1000 young people will visit a careers fair, listen to key note speakers and watch a fashion show featuring the correct clothes to wear for interviews and for work.
They will also take part in a range of practical demonstrations covering everything from welding to a biology dexterity test.
Work Discovery Week –Sunderland has been supported by partners SAFC, NECC and Sunderland City Council and sponsored by the region’s leading businesses including Gentoo, Grundfos, Nissan, Sunderland University, Arriva, Sunderland College and the National Apprentice Service.
